Pope Valley, Napa Cabernet Sauvignon by James Creek Vineyards

We hand crafted the wine with traditional techniques and aged it in small French oak barrels for 18 months. You will find our Cabernet Sauvignon robust and fruity, exploding with cherry flavors intertwined with notes of chocolate, black pepper, spice and vanilla. We are Family owned and operated by Scott and Debbie Brown and Tom and Cindy Johnston a brother sister team with spouses.

Pope Valley, Napa Zinfandel by James Creek Vineyards

Classic notes of black pepper and spice highlight the lush fruit aromas of this James Creek Zinfandel. On the palate, silky layers of blackberries unfold with intriguing coffee and vanilla nuances. This wine has a wonderful history, rich in family tradition. As siblings, Viticulturist Scott Brown and Winemaker Cindy Johnston helped their family plant this Zinfandel vineyard in 1972, when they were 8 and 12 years old. For nearly three decades they have trained and nurtured this vineyard in Pope Valley. Over the years, family and friends have enjoyed the wine, and a new generation of children has continued the tradition of helping in the vineyard.
Cindy, our winemaker, fermented the must with a selected yeast strain to accentuate the wine's inherent depth and fruitiness. During fermentation, we punched the cap down by hand (pigeage) three times each day for optimal flavor extraction. After 28 days of extended maceration (skin contact) to naturally soften tannins, we gently pressed the wine in a traditional basket press so as not to over extract harsh tannins, then separating free run from hard press and transferred it to small French oak barrels. We produced only four barrels of wine. For complexity and roundness, the wine underwent a long, malolactic fermentation in barrels, followed by 18 months of barrel aging. During barrel aging, we gently racked the wine barrel-to-barrel for natural clarification.
