2002 LONE WOLF - Napa Valley Zinfandel

This Zinfandel is all from the Napa Valley and the wine was aged in American oak for 24 months, after 17 days of fermentation. The small bunches of grapes were hand picked at their optimum peak of ripeness with sugars at 25 Brix. Therefore the flavors are of rich, ripe fruit, with a finish without excessive high alcohols. The Lone Wolf Zinfandel is exceptional with its full body, an abundance of spicy varietal flavors and a soft lingering finish. This wine is perfectly balanced to be enjoyed with poultry and meats from the grill, pastas and many types of cheese.

IMPORTANT NEWS: Highlands Winery is happy to announce the release of their 2004 Howell Mountain Zinfandel and the 2003 Cabernet Sauvignons and 2003 Syrah.
Here are the winemaker’s tasting notes on these wines:

2004 Highlands - Howell Mountain Zinfandel: An intense ruby wine reminiscent of blue and black berry aromas infused with delicious spice and a hint of persimmon that translates from nose to palate with a gentle full balance that exemplifies this varietal. The exceptional wine pairs well with a traditional preparation of pork or even a spicy roasted or rotisserie chicken!

2003 Highlands - Black Sears Vineyard Organic Cabernet Sauvignon: Complexity in layers - cracked pepper, chocolate liqueur reminiscent of cherry kirsch. Focused with complex tiers of taste. Pairs well with lamb, beef and other traditional cuts of red meats.

2003 Highlands - Beatty Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon: Enjoy the complexities of this wine. Soft hints of lavender and spice. Create intense flavors with this wine when paired with spicy preparations of pork, chicken and beef.

2003 Highlands - Hohzoni Syrah: This is a specially-selected clone of Syrah, which adapts particularly well to steep hillside sites. We have adapted traditional winemaking techniques to better fit the quality of our fruit, so we use no new oak and no Viognier, instead option for an 18 month aging regimen in one and two year old barrels. This Syrah is fruit-forward, with ripe berries and sweet Santa Rosa plum aromas and flavors. Very rich and supple, this Syrah pairs well with red meats and pasta or pizza.
